Quick.tv, new online video platform

   Posted by: Hari   in General

This month Joost has officially given up in his race against YouTube or Hulu to become a giant of online video. Crowded area if it is with in addition to those listed above, DailyMotion number 2 in Europe, Brightcove, the reference platform for many professional or Ooyala, or Magnify WorldTV who also offer solutions to mount a mini TV channel in ligne.Et I forget Bonee probably a dozen others ..

Here is a newcomer who has the courage Quick.tv

They just launched a new product in Beta that allows video creators to customize their TV channels to insert polls and advertising more functionality developed enough statistics. The site is also compatible with all video formats and HD.

Quick.tv English is a startup funded to the tune of £ 1.2 million, the company is based in Newcastle and London.

Quick.Tv is quite attractive, but they want a lot of courage in an area where competition is fierce and important. The boom in online video has taken place yet but soon to be at the economic level. Economic models free, with advertising, have a hard time proving themselves. While YouTube or DailyMotion does not cover the same type of clientele that Brightcove, for example, but only the model Freemium seem to start to prove himself in this field, as evidenced by income Brightcove. Quick.Tv moreover chose to start only by a paid model. No free version; subscriptions begin at $ 120 per month. A site that seems to be focused companies and media groups, not the general public.

250 million users on Facebook

   Posted by: Hari   in General

Three months after having passed the 200 million members, Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’s CEO, announced yesterday that the social network now had 250 million users. In January the account was 150 million.

According to Comscore, Facebook had 316 million visitors in May, but all would not necessarily account.

The pace of growth of facebook is pretty scary, growing from 50 million users in three months is simply amazing. How long before it reache

Here’s an interesting concept created by PowerOn: Widget Booster. The principle is to assist in the promotion of sites, letting you manage media campaigns through an exchange of banners. In fact it is widgets with rotating banners of sites related to your topic. The idea and allow a website or blog to raise awareness within the community of readers in a specialized field. Widget booster currently offers 3 vertical operation: games, geek, girls and others are expected soon. You choose a location on your site to place the widget and other sites will follow suit with banners that you put on your management interface WidgetBooster.

“The mission of Geekbooster is to allow members of its network to exchange targeted traffic automatically and équitable.Il is important to establish partnerships with other Webmasteur, site publishers, bloggers, bloggers covering the same theme to develop the hearing and the reputation of his site. ”

The site is undergoing pre-launch 30 days from listing 100 to 000 hits 13 million impressions.

It is actually a kind of advertising but offer a real interaction with the site owners who can manage their campaigns. Plus you have to click on your site, you generate credits that allow you to put more banners in more sites. This concept of credits I also appeared a bit fuzzy and one wonders if blogs with little traffic will not be somewhat disadvantaged. Maybe JF Ruiz, one of the co-founders of the project may tell us more about this and also the economic model of this platform.

But the system is quite fun and allow bloggers to generate targeted traffic and it is a good starting point. Here is the presentation in BD:

Commemorations bloom across the web and in the media 40 years ago the man posed a first step on the moon, yes, yes, the famous giant leap for mankind. Until the next mission joint European-American, we can revisit the past through several web sites which tell of the adventures of space Apollo crews.

It was discovered Wechoosethemoon an American site, very spectacular, but I chose to present this morning at the Conquest of the Moon, a web documentary directed by French studio Multimedia RFI and France 24. A superb achievement which combines graphics, photos and video. All Apollo missions from 1969 to 1972. Beautiful, simple and educational.

Facebook 3.0 For iPhone

   Posted by: Hari   in Uncategorized

Nearly two weeks after submitting the app to Apple, Facebook’s totally revamped 3.0 application is finally live on the App Store, according to the app’s developer Joe Hewitt . You can download it now here . The store currently shows that the app is version 2.5, but if you click the Download button anyway you’ll get the new version. The new application brings a slew of new features, making it what may be the most useful app on the App Store (be sure to read this post) for our full review. Among the additions are Events, which have frustratingly been omitted from previous versions. Now you’ll be able to look up where your Events are, and you can also respond to them and see which of your friends are attending (for anyone who has ever had to boot up the web version of the site just to look up an Event address, this is a big deal). You can also post video directly to the site if you have an iPhone 3GS — a feature that will likely see the number of videos on Facebook increase dramatically. Smaller changes include a News Feed that more closely reflects the feed you’ll find on the main Facebook site, as well as the ability to “Like” items your friends have created. One feature that users will be missing is Push Notifications, which we suspect will be rolled out in version 3.1, which Hewitt is already working on. There will also be support for landscape mode in the upcoming release, and we may also see support for the ability to watch Facebook videos from the phone (right now you can only upload them). It’s worth noting that the 11 day wait since Facebook originally submitted the application was enough to raise Hewitt’s ire (and justifiably so), leading him to condemn the App Store approval process and call for its removal entirely.

Streaming music service Spotify has launched on the iPhone and Android devices for its premium subscribers only. You can download it from Apple’s App Store here and the Android Market. Though plans to launch there are in play, the service is not yet live in the US, and it has already taken several European markets by storm. This iPhone app is basically identical to the leaked beta we reviewed in detail.
The mobile apps will allow you to play the entire Spotify catalogue and the ‘offline mode’ caches playlists so they can be played when you are offline, like on a plane. Spotify has set up a special mobile sectionwith more details. The launch of this mobile version now fires the starting gun on their US launch plans. A large number of record labels have actually invested in the Swedish-born, London-based startup, which is nowvalued at €170 million, or about $242 million, with a post money valuation of around €200 million. This is the first time Spotify has gone mobile with its service and it’s sure to cause a lot of interest. Spotify really is unlike pretty much any streaming service you’ve tried before, mainly because tracks start to play almost instantly due to the P2P technology employed. On a mobile the effect is impressive. See the video below. Though on the face of it Spotify appears to compete with iTunes,in reality, as we predicted, Apple appears to be relaxed about the service, presumably so long as the mobile app remains tied to premium subscribers.

Google’s Partner For New Music Service

   Posted by: Hari   in Uncategorized

Google will partner with iLike and Lala for their new music service, we’ve learned. And the announcement date is Wednesday, October 28, 2009.
Press, including us, received an invitation this morning (see ticket image above) inviting them to a Hollywood event next week hosted by music services Lala and iLike. The invitation, titled “Discover Music!” says announcements will be followed by performances, and that Lala, iLike “& Others” are hosting. The “& Others” includes Google, we’ve heard from multiple sources, and the new service will be unveiled. All four major music services are backing the service. iLike was recently acquired by MySpace, so the new service may involve them as well. From information we’ve gathered from sources, the new service will be integrated into Google search. Users will be able to stream songs directly from Google via partners iLike and Lala. Additional information around the music query will be provided to users as well (presumably any relevant results from YouTube as well as information already available in Google’s existing music search – example ). One source said that Google will organize music searches in a way very similar to the way they do public company stock searches today. Users will also be offered the opportunity to purchase songs for download, we’ve confirmed. Both iLike and Lala provided limited streaming services today. Lala lets users stream a song once, then a user either has to pay or only get a 30 second clip. iLike has some full streaming, some 30 second clips. MySpace Music has full streaming rights from all four major labels.
